Southdale scoop £30 million of new work
Darlington-based construction and development firm Southdale says it has secured almost £30 million new work across the region.
New projects include:
• 12 houses in Cromwell Street, Gateshead on the former site of a social club for Four Housing Group. Scheduled to be completed in February 2015, the project is valued at £1.2 million.
• 55 homes in Saxon Way, Jarrow, and a further 33 homes in West Way South Shields for South Tyneside Homes in contracts valued at £3.9 million and £2.6 million respectively, both of which are scheduled to be completed in March 2015.
• For the new Thirteen Group, Southdale is demolishing existing buildings and developing 28 new homes in Raby Gardens, Hartlepool, in a £2.5 million project and creating 28 new homes at Fulbeck House, Middlesbrough, in a project valued at £2.1 million.
• Also for the Thirteen Group, , 117 units are being developed at Parkfield, in Stockton, by Southdale in a contract valued at just under £11 million. Likewise, in Park End, Middlesbrough, a smaller regeneration project is due for completion in March 2015 and will see 24 units built as part of a £2.3 million contract.
• In a project for Livin, which is also due for completion in March 2015, 21 units are to be developed at Thurlow Grange, Stockton, in a contract worth £2.4 million.
Trudie McCormick, North East Region managing director at Southdale, said: “These new contracts show continued growth for Southdale in the North East, following more than £10m of work started in the final quarter of 2013.
“The great thing for the region is that the overwhelming majority of the work will go into the regional supply chain and we will be working to recruit one apprentice for every million pounds of contract work
“This represents a very strong start to 2014 and we are looking forward to an excellent year as we continue to grow our presence in the North East.”
