Spire Washington Hospital shortlisted for CHKS data quality (independent sector) award

Spire Washington Hospital has been shortlisted for the CHKS Top Hospitals programme NHS data quality (for the independent sector) award 2014. The CHKS Top Hospitals awards celebrate the success of healthcare providers across the UK and are given to acute organisations for their achievements in healthcare quality and improvement.

CHKS has used 25 years of experience in the analysis of hospital data to decide the indicators on which each of the Top Hospitals programme awards are judged. Awards are made on the basis of an analysis of publicly available datasets and every NHS acute trust is included.

The data quality award recognises the importance of clinical coding and data quality, and the essential roles they play in ensuring appropriate patient care. It is based on a range of coding indicators, including coding related to primary diagnosis.

Shelagh Alderson, director at Spire Washington Hospital, said: “Patient safety and well being is always at the top of our priority list and we are thrilled to have been shortlisted for this CHKS award in recognition of our hard work in the management of clinical data.

The CHKS Top Hospitals programme awards will be held in London on 13th May and is set to be attended by over 200 guests by over 200 guests including leaders from across the healthcare sector, from the Department of Health, Royal Colleges, and acute trusts.
