Shipley wireless firm expands Saltaire manufacturing base to cope with global demand
Shipley-based Radio Design has announced the expansion of its Saltaire manufacturing facilities.
Radio Design has taken an additional 20 000 sq ft of production space and now occupies over 60 000 sq ft in the historic Salts Mill world heritage site.
Hardware Services general manager, Richard Coatesworth commented, “Our international business is poised for further strong growth in 2014 and these larger facilities were needed to support this next phase of our business development.
“This new larger integrated facility has allowed Radio Design’s HWS division to bring together, under one roof, its development, production and commercial teams.”
Robin Silver, managing director of Salts Estates, said: “We at Salts Mill are pleased and proud to have supported Radio Design during this period of rapid growth.
“We were certain that Radio Design would expand and, in a genuine spirit of partnership, we reserved and made available space for these developments.
“Our commitment continues and, under Eric Hawthorn’s leadership, Radio Design’s success will continue to be of great benefit to the Saltaire area and enhance its position as a centre for electronics and growing businesses.”
After expansion, Radio Design has also reported that more than 60% of its business comes from the international market.
Established in 2007 in Shipley, West Yorkshire, Radio Design develops and manufactures radio frequency products and solutions for worldwide wireless communications markets.
The company has established facilities in the UK, India, China and Finland and employs 275 employees worldwide.
