DUCO Ltd (part of Technip Umbilical Systems) gains Investors in People Gold

DUCO Ltd, the UK leader in project management, engineering and umbilical manufacturing for the energy industry has achieved world class status by winning Investors in People (IiP) Gold award, thus joining 1% of UK best-in-class organisations.

The company, which has a major manufacturing and research facility on the River Tyne and a project management team based at Cobalt, North Tyneside, has been recognised for its exceptional people management practice.

Investors in People (IiP) is the leading UK standard for business improvement through people. The assessment took place through a series of interviews with a cross section of employees selected by an assessor and measured a variety of performance indicators. These include that managers are effective in leading, managing and developing people, individual contributions to the organisation are recognised and valued and that people are encouraged to take ownership and responsibility by being involved in decision-making.

DUCO forms part of the Technip Umbilical Systems, global Technip group which, in May, is set to open the world’s most advanced steel tube umbilical manufacturing facility on the River Tyne at Walker. This new plant has been supported by the Government’s Regional Growth Fund and will safeguard over 160 jobs.

Jean-Louis Rostaing, Technip Umbilical Systems, Managing Director, said: “We are thrilled to have received the Gold standard this year, after having successfully attained Silver in 2010, and as a result of continuously improving our people management processes, following the three year reassessment. This is a proud moment for us and reflects the talent and skills that have been nurtured and developed within our North East workforce.

“From the formal feedback we have received, this achievement recognizes exceptional working practices in areas such as people management, reward and

recognition, staff involvement and empowerment, work-life balance and continuous improvement. Our people make us who we are – they are our key asset and this is a chance for me to personally thank everyone for their ongoing commitment and hard work.“
