House builder supports local First Aid charity
St Andrews First Aid in Falkirk have successfully scored a sponsorship deal with a leading house builder that will support the training of young people to help them become fully fledged first aiders.
Persimmon Homes East Scotland has invested £200 to help set up Falkirk’s very own St Andrews First Aid Cadet Group. The sponsorship money will be used to cover the cost of uniforms, books, training material, and equipment.
Andrea Penman, customer service manager at Persimmon Homes East Scotland, initiated the sponsorship to support a cause that she has been involved with for a number of years.
“I have been a qualified first aider with St Andrews for four years and a trainer for 18 months and one thing I’ve noticed is that there is a large proportion of population who don’t have any first aid knowledge or training.
“I feel that with the right training from St Andrews First Aid, young people will be in a better position to save lives if a situation was to arise at school, at home or within their communities. St Andrews First Aid Cadets is aimed at 11 to 15 year olds and provides an opportunity for young people to develop their life skills as well as belonging to a national Scottish youth organisation.
Andrea said the charity launched the cadet branch earlier this month. “The Cadet programme not only gives youngsters an insight into working within an adult Company, it also presents opportunities for them to attend local events as helpers.”
“We started training our cadets earlier this month, so they could attend the launch of the Kelpies statues with us at Helix Park on the 17th and 18th April.”
Lorraine Clelland, sales and marketing manager at Persimmon Homes East Scotland, said: “We feel privileged to be involved with such an established local organisation. This is a great initiative and we’re delighted to be a part of it. “Persimmon Homes have such a strong presence in Falkirk, and with our Ashridge development located on the outskirts of the town, we felt it was a great opportunity to partner up with such a respected local charity.”
Located on Aitken Crescent, Ashridge offers a range of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes starting from just £137,950.*
