Posts created as sales soar at renewable heating company

Thriving renewable energy company Organic Energy is to create two new posts to support increased demand for its products, following a period of record-breaking sales.

The pioneering company, one of the forerunners of low carbon heating technology in the UK, is recruiting two regional development managers to cover the north and south of the country. The move follows a number of new jobs created at Organic Energy’s Welshpool headquarters in 2013.

Organic Energy is the UK’s sole distributor of the award-winning OkoFEN range of wood pellet boilers and works with a network of biomass boiler installers nationwide.

Managing director Andy Boroughs, who has been working with OkoFEN for more than 10 years, said recent sales were 400 per cent up on the previous year.

He said: “We are a thriving company which has been well-established for a number of years, supplying wood pellet boilers to all four corners of the UK and to Ireland. However, in the last year, the combination of innovation in alternative heating technology, plus Government incentives, has seen demand for our boilers grow.

“The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI), for commercial and industrial premises, has had an impact as both private sector companies and public sector organisations have seen the financial benefit of installing our systems.

“With the introduction of the domestic RHI this year, and given our recent sharp demand in sales on top of consistent growth, we are looking to bring on board two new regional development managers as part of a programme of business development in 2014.

“The managers will support the existing network of installers in the UK, and help find new installers looking to develop their own businesses within the renewable energy industry.”

The Renewable Heat Incentive for the non-domestic sector was introduced in November 2011 and includes industrial and commercial installations, as well as those for the public sector, not-for-profit organisations and charities. It sees tariffs paid on a quarterly basis for a 20-year-period.

A 56kw ÖkoFEN automatic boiler using an average of 22.4 tonnes of wood pellets a year can attract an commcerial RHI payment of £7,074 compared to the cost of the fuel at £5,152 ex VAT. At the other end of the scale, the 8kw boiler will attract £1,010, against a pellet cost of £736.

The incentive for domestic installations was launched on April 9 and the Government wants to see 750,000 renewable heat installations completed by 2020. Households installing biomass boilers will earn 12.2p/kWh.
