Newcastle cloud IT providers create jobs as marketing push aims to deliver growth

Newcastle-based cloud IT providers Atlas Cloud have expanded into larger premises and are embarking on a sales and marketing offensive which is likely to deliver jobs.

The 17-strong city centre firm use data centres in Newcastle, Sunderland and Edinburgh to provide ‘hosted desktop’ systems to professional services clients.

Atlas Cloud pare back firm’s IT infrastructure and provide them with a streamlined hardware through which they can access their desktop setup remotely, offering flexible working and security.

The company has grown its workforce by 5 in the last few months, and says it could create further technology and sales roles at its Sheffield, Leeds and London offices in the near future.

A successful run of organic growth and personal referrals has fuelled business to date, but sales and marketing manager Martin Robertson says a dedicated marketing effort will now be used to attract new clients.

He told Bdaily: “We’ve built the infrastructure needed to deliver a good service to clients, and now it’s time to start marketing that.

“Initially, growth is likely to come from the North East and Yorkshire markets, but we’re also targeting the London professional services sphere.”

CEO Pete Watson added: “The business is entering a phase of accelerated growth as we come out of stealth mode, particularly as we are actively recruiting new staff.

“We’ve spent a great deal of time ensuring that the technology we provide is right in terms of security, flexibility and cost effectiveness. Demand is increasing as that message spreads and we therefore needed to ensure we had the staff numbers in place to deal with that demand.

“To this point we have really concentrated on the technology that underpins our offering, ensuring that we can deliver a world class solution to clients.

“The growth of the business has therefore been almost entirely organic but now we are in a position to increase numbers in the sales and marketing team which will allow us to focus in on the vertical markets where we can provide the most value.”

Atlas Cloud are currently hosting two interns from Northumbria University. Alex Cutts is a final year student whilst Cara Feingold is in her first year.
