Project manager selected for lasers committee

Warrington-based manufacturer, Croft Additive Manufacturing (CAM), is celebrating after project manager, Louise Geekie, was selected to join the Association of Laser Users’ (AILU) committee.

The AILU, which has members across the globe, invited Louise to join the select committee following a presentation on CAM’s additive manufacturing (AM) innovations at the AGM.

As part of her role, Louise will support the committee members in their promotion of the organisation, and provide guidance on the direction of the industry.

Joining the committee will enable CAM to help drive its industrial use of AM, as the AILU aims to foster collaborations between laser users and encourages information and expertise to be shared among its members.

Louise said: “Lasers play a key part in additive manufacturing, but there is still a lot to learn. By joining the committee, I’m hoping to expand our knowledge base on the control and use of lasers, in order to improve our product development and help shape the future direction of our research.”

Neil Burns, director at CAM, said: “Louise’s appointment marks a unique opportunity for CAM to learn from key figures within the lasers sector and share our knowledge of the industrial uses of AM technology.

“Louise’s extensive experience means that she will not only be able to promote best practice, but can provide support to other members looking to implement the use of improved technologies.”
