Home care group creates 70 jobs in North East
Around 70 new jobs will be created across the North East in the next six months following the launch of a new homecare business in Darlington.
Care Matters, which provides domiciliary care services to vulnerable adults, has been launched as a new subsidiary of North East-based recruitment firm Tribe Group.
While the new business will initially cover County Durham and North Yorkshire from its Darlington headquarters, it plans to open an additional operation in Sunderland to cover Tyne and Wear in the next 12 months.
The company aims to recruit up to 70 new carers in the next six months and has already been named as an approved supplier of homecare services to North Yorkshire Council.
The group is also launching a new apprenticeship scheme and is working with a number of colleges and training providers to encourage new talent into the home care sector.
Care Matters’ parent firm Tribe Group specialises in filling roles in various disciplines through its recruitment, executive search, energy and healthcare divisions.
According to its owners, Phil Crowther and Lisa Spark, the move into homecare was a natural progression for the growing business from its work in providing staff cover in registered healthcare settings.
Managing director Lisa Spark said: “We were already employing experienced people from within this field and providing training to ensure our staff were exceptionally good at what they did.
“We identified a need for good homecare services to be offered to people and thought we could couple our business acumen with our collective care experience and build something to be proud of.”
Meanwhile, sector professional June Capstick has been appointed registered care manager at Care Matters and will oversee the first-rate delivery of services at the company.
June has over 20 years of experience in care services management in a career that has seen her work within multidisciplinary teams throughout the North East.
Care Matters offers personal and palliative care, holiday cover for existing carers, transportation services to social activities, domestic and housekeeping assistance and post-hospital care.
It aims to empower vulnerable people to lead the lifestyle of their choosing and to provide a range of high quality services which support independent living.
Anyone interested in working as a home carer within the Darlington and North Yorkshire is asked to email jobs@carematters.co.uk or visit www.carematters.co.uk for more information.
