Warrington entrepreneurs in running for national award
Two Warrington business leaders have been shortlisted for a top entrepreneur award.
Clare Roberts, chief executive of Kids Planet, which is based in Lymm, and Mark Bigley, chief executive of Secured Mail, based in Birchwood, have made the list.
The pair will go forward to compete with leaders from 26 other business organizations from across the North.
The North of England winners will then go on to compete for the title of EY UK Entrepreneur of the Year 2014 and a chance to represent their country at a global awards ceremony, to be held at the Lowry Hotel in Salford on June 24.
Robert Crooks, North West Entrepreneur of the Year leader at EY, said: “Our 2014 North West finalists have delivered significant growth by developing strong, differentiated propositions.
“Their business achievements are all the more impressive having been conceived and largely delivered during some of the most challenging economic conditions UK companies have ever faced.
“Product innovation, exporting, customer engagement and investment in technology are just some of the ways these outstanding businesses have driven expansion and are positioning themselves for further accelerated growth in the recovery.
“It is crucial that we continue to recognise and support these and other entrepreneurial companies in the north west.
“They lay the foundations for job and wealth creation, and have a critical role to play in regional economic expansion.”
Steve Park, managing director of Warrington & Co., Warrington’s partnership for driving growth, said: “Congratulations to Clare and Mark on making the shortlist. Kids Planet and Secured Mail are fantastic businesses that we are proud to have based in Warrington.
“Warrington businesses have a great track record of competing in these awards and I wish them both the best of luck.”
