Leeds United FC faces second winding up petition this year

Leeds United have been issued with a winding-up petition by Sports Capital who say they are owed £1 million.

The money was given to the club as a loan by the consortium with which former LUFC managing director David Haigh is associated, but the date for repayment has been missed and the petition is set to be considered at a hearing on June 9.

Companies and individuals can apply to the court to wind up a company if it can’t pay its debts of more than £750, and, if successful, the company will be put into liquidation.

Previously this year, former sponsor Andrew Flowers served them with a winding up petition until new owner Massimo Cellino paid the £1.5 million he was owed.
