Sheffield organic startup finds success with crowdfunding
Two Sheffield entrepreneurs have launched an organic cosmetics and environmentally friendly products firm with the help of crowdfunding platform GoodFruit.
Founders Andy and Nat Bond raised over £5,000 with a campaign that finished this month to help launch their business, Nathalie Bond Organics, which manufacturers organic and high quality candles, body oils and soaps.
They will use the funding to develop more in the range, without synthetic fertilsers or pesticides, attend trade shows such as the Harrogate Home and Gift Show, and become certified organic with the Soil Association.
The profits from the enterprise will be used to create jobs for the company as well as 20% of them going towards charities that work with children in the Third World.
Andy and Nat said: “This business requires us to purchase a lot of supplies up front and we need to cover our day-to-day costs and there is a risk that we will run low on cash.
“This will have an impact on us moving forward with the goals we want to achieve so we would have to rethink how we source funds. By finding some stockists in both in the UK and overseas we can bring some financial stability.
“We use organic ingredients because it’s the original and best way to farm. It cuts out the use of pesticides and synthetic fertilisers and it’s better for the environment and more sustainable than conventional farming.
“We also have a passion to run a business with high ethical standards and a desire to create jobs in our great city.”
