This week’s North East appointments
Durham-based Swinburne Maddison LLP, has promoted Carolyn Beal, David Low and Alex Wilby to partner level in recognition of the trio’s exceptional contribution to the firm’s success to date.
Carolyn, who joined Swinburne Maddison LLP in 2001, initially worked as a family solicitor and is now practice manager; David Low, a litigation and employment specialist, has been working with the practice since 2007. Both trained and qualified with the firm.
Alex, a member of Swinburne Maddison LLP’s corporate commercial team, joined three years ago. A qualified solicitor, he also worked for a spell as a finance director, giving him broad-based experience of the corporate world.
Speaking about this latest raft of promotions, partner, Jonathan Moreland said: “So that we can continue to take the firm from strength to strength it is important for us to recognise our talented team already in place, while at the same time deliver a strong corporate structure that will create the basis for new talent attraction.
“I am delighted to announce these latest promotions. Carolyn, David and Alex have all made a significant contribution to the practice and we wanted to recognise that as well as benefit from their involvement at a more senior, strategic level.”
Property and construction firm, The GB Group has appointed Jon Hinson as its new Business Unit director for the North.
He will provide overall leadership across the group’s offices in Wakefield, Stockport and Newcastle.
Jon has 25 years industry experience in specialist sectors including health, residential, student accommodation, and hotel and leisure. Most recently, he has worked at board level with businesses helping them to achieve rapid growth.
GB Group executive chairman Martin Smout said: “We’re delighted to welcome Jon to the Group. He is a team player whose key strengths lie in operational delivery, and he shares our commitment to customer service.
“This is an exciting time to join the team as prospects look increasingly encouraging. Jon will be a real asset as we set our sights on further growth.”
