Firms offered insight into North East regeneration project supply chain opportunities
North East firms are being offered an insight into supply chain opportunities being generated by regional regeneration projects.
A seminar, featuring speakers from construction firm Southdale and Hartlepool Borough Council, will provide information on how businesses can access opportunities arising from major projects in the North East.
Southdale, which is based in Darlington, is starting work at sites in Gateshead, South Tyneside and Teesside following a string of contracts wins.
Hartlepool Borough Council is about to begin drawing up a Regeneration Master Plan with key sites including Jacksons Landing - which could be new leisure facilities, tourism or a mixed-use development - the Church Street/Lynn Street area, Mill House, Trincomalee Wharf and the wider marina area included.
The Master Plan process also will consider the future retail potential of the town centre and a Retail Revival Strategy will be prepared.
Jonathan Willett, director of Henderson Insurance Brokers, said: “The aim is for attendees to hear first-hand about the supply chain that could be generated throughout these two major regeneration projects.
“Henderson Insurance Brokers prides itself on supporting initiatives that are of benefit to companies in the region.”
Jonathan Simpson, a partner at property specialists Sanderson Weatherall, said: “Sanderson Weatherall is keen to make a tangible contribution to the North East business community, which is why we are involved in this seminar.
“These major regeneration projects have the ability to transform parts of the North East and their development will be of interest to those in the supply chain.”
Catriona Lingwood, chief executive of CENE, said: “This seminar will give delegates the opportunity to gauge what potential there will be to bid for work as these projects develop and, therefore, will be of great interest to a number of people in the region.”
The event takes place at 8.30am on Wednesday June 4 at CENE’s offices in Belmont Business Park, Durham.
Anyone interested in attending should ring Leanne McAngus on 0191 374 0233. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
