Young Teessiders' chance to see inside KP Snacks factory
Young people in and around Billingham will be given the opportunity to hone their employability and see what types of careers are on offer at KP Snacks.
The firm are taking part in a nationwide campaign to tackle youth unemployment and will welcome youngsters to its Billingham factory for CV and interview workshops, health and safety courses and tours of the facility.
The manufacturers of brands such as McCoy’s, Hula Hoops and Space Raiders, employ around 2,000 in the UK across seven sites - including Billingham, Consett and Tanfield in the North East.
Melissa Bevington, HR Lead at KP Teesside, said: “Feeding Britain’s Future is a great initiative, which KP Teesside is proud to be part of. All KP’s sites made a great effort to support the initiative last year, helping many young people that are currently unemployed to get lots of useful advice and skills to hopefully help get them into employment as soon as possible.
“Over 70 young unemployed people got a chance to visit KP Snacks sites as part of Skills for Work Month in 2013. The events we ran were highly rated by the young people who attended, with the majority rating them either ‘Good’ or ‘Excellent’ in feedback. We look forward to ramping up our activity this year and already have some exciting plans in place.”
