Teesside air conditioning specialists secure contracts
Teesside-based air conditioning, heating and ventilation services specialists Ambient HVAC are walking on air after celebrating 10 years in the business with a series of major contract wins.
Brothers Ross and Guy Burke have proved they’re not full of hot air by building the Eaglescliffe business into a North-East success story that has just enjoyed one of its best-ever years for profit and turnover.
Ambient’s 12-strong team have designed and installed industrial air-conditioning systems for many of Teesside’s leading chemical companies including Lucite International, ConocoPhillips, Ensus and Hertel.
Specialising in cooling systems for data centres and server-rooms that require precise temperature control, Ambient also serve the public sector, together with the telecoms, leisure and retail industries – and, says Project Manager Ross, “everything in between”.
Ambient marked their 10th anniversary by installing a new £50,000 high-performance heating, cooling and ventilation system in the new Stockton headquarters of commercial construction company, The Mandale Group, while they are currently completing the installation of cooling equipment for two of Teesside’s biggest industrial businesses.
Another successful recent project involved helping Evenwood-based CA Group switch their air conditioning from a gas-guzzling boiler system to renewable heating.
To suit the CA Group HQ’s varied working environments, Ambient designed and installed a web-controlled, state-of-the-art system that provides heating, cooling and the added advantage of heat recovery to minimise energy consumption
It is all a far cry from the small and unassuming, family-run business Ross and Guy launched in 2004.
With Ross as project manager and Guy as installation engineer, the brothers ran what was originally a general air conditioning business from home.
As they progressed into the specialised industrial field, they moved to premises on the old Ministry of Defence site in Eaglescliffe before switching to their current base featuring offices and storage facilities on the town’s Urlay Nook Road in 2013.
“We’re proud with what we have achieved so far,” said Ross. “It’s been a fantastic journey and the years have flown by. From our small beginnings, we’re delighted that many of Teesside’s leading companies now view us as their designers and suppliers of choice for their air conditioning requirements.
“With our background of working on petrochemical sites, we have developed a niche for data centre and server room cooling systems.
“Over the past 12 months we’ve achieved our best turnover and profit for three years, so we reach our 10th anniversary with every reason to feel confident about the future – with several more major contracts currently underway.”
Ambient’s team boasts extensive experience in air conditioning design, installation and problem-solving, gained while working with several of the industry’s major players.
Ambient believe a combination of extensive installation experience and specialist engineering and design expertise enables them to develop creative solutions to challenges faced by many modern industrial businesses.
Ross said: “Each project is carefully analysed and challenged to ensure that the most effective and efficient solution is developed.
“We provide specialist low-carbon cooling solutions that utilize advances in evaporative cooling technology along with traditional refrigeration-based solutions.
“For server rooms and data centres, we’re able to increase cooling capacity and reliability, reduce associated power consumption and carbon emissions by up to 90% and save customers substantial costs.”
