Accrington workwear firm’s owner acquires Logistik Unicorp
David Ross, the successful entrepreneur who made his name with the development of Carphone Warehouse, has acquired the European businesses of global uniforms solutions provider, Logistik Unicorp.
The announcement follows Ross’ acquisitions of the Lancashire-based workwear provider, Simon Jersey, and protective clothing supplier, Ballyclare, last year. The move creates a group with annual sales of more than £50 million.
Each company will continue to operate individually, allowing them to focus on meeting individual customer requirements, however each business will benefit from access to group resources - helping to deliver innovative products and a reliable service.
Mr Ross said: “We believe that the new ownership, coupled with additional support and investment, will provide Logistik Unicorp with an opportunity to grow, with an emphasis on excellent products and service.
“My experience within the workwear industry has taught me the importance of placing customer satisfaction at the heart of what we do.
“The benefit of the group offer means that where there are appropriate opportunities, we will be able to link the three businesses together in order to further strengthen our ability to meet any requirements our customers may have.
“For example, Simon Jersey and Ballyclare will now have access to Logistik Unicorp’s manufacturing facility in Tunisia, allowing a quicker turnaround and near-shore supply.”
Workwear producer, Simon Jersey, which is based in Accrington, was acquired in January of this year.
