Manchester United’s ‘Class of 92’ confirm hotel development
The group of former Manchester United players who have banded together under the ‘Class of 92’ brand have invested in a £23m, 133 bedroom hotel scheme set to open close to the Old Trafford stadium this autumn.
Last year, Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville teamed up with Stuart Procter, former general manager of London’s five-star Stafford hotel, to launch two brands - Cafe Football and Hotel Football - under the umbrella of their new company, GG Hospitality.
The first Cafe Football, with 120 seats, opened in Westfield Stratford, east London, last December.
Now, with launch of the Hotel Football project, the other three from The Class of 92 – Gary’s brother Phil, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt – have confirmed their involvement too.
Nicky Butt said: “It is a great project and something we are all very excited about. We’re all very close and like one big family, being in business is the next step.”
While Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville have been heavily involved in all aspects of the projects, Phil Neville, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt will focus on more ‘front-of-house’ roles, with at least one of them always present on match days.
Hotel Football will feature a five-a-side pitch on the rooftop of the 11-storey building, which can double up as an event space for dinners for up to 120 guests and barbecues on match-days.
The hotel will also incorporate the second Cafe Football, offering 185 seats.
