Housebuilder’s charity support continues
A leading housebuilder has pledged to continue supporting a regional charity which cares for poorly children and young people, after raising almost £9,000 for the cause last year.
Persimmon Homes South East has named chYps as its chosen charity, aiming to raise vital funds to provide hospice care in the home for seriously ill children.
Jo Richards, head of sales and marketing for Persimmon South East, said: “Last year our corporate fundraising activity raised £8,780 for chYps, and we hope to do even better in 2014.
“Our field sales manager Donna Cole has already sold off some showhome furniture we no longer needed, bringing in £400 to kick-start our campaign.
“All of the team based in Maidstone and at our developments thoughout Kent and East Sussex will be focused on supporting the important work of chYps in our region with the aim to ensure every child in this area gets the care they deserve.”
The charity’s nursing team delivers full clinical hospice care in the home, meaning the family stays together in a familiar environment.
Last year, part exchange administrator Bee Styche completed a cycle ride from London to Brussels, and she is now in training again after signing up for a London to Paris challenge in July and the Ride London 100 miles in August.
Bee said: “I am hoping by the time all three rides are complete my sponsorship will be in excess of £6,000 for chYps. These challenges do require a lot of dedication with training and fundraising, but doing something worthwhile for an amazing charity that helps so many children and young adults is really worth it.”
