Merseyside engineering firm Yuken Europe secures deal to supply to German company
Merseyside based hydraulic engineering company Yuken Europe has secured a deal to supply parts to one of the largest manufacturers of plastic injection moulding machines in the world.
The Speke firm is supplying its unique energy-saving ‘servo drives’ to Sumitomo (SHI) Demag in Schwaig, Germany. Yuken Europe managing director Mannie Saunders said the contract marked the firm’s advance into the European plastic moulding injection ‘new build’ machine market.
Mr Saunders said Yuken Europe will be exporting more than 250 units for use in a number of machines. He said the firm takes great pride in delivering pioneering hydraulic solutions which are among the most energy efficient, durable and innovative in the world.
Yuken Europe’s energy-saving servo drive is specifically designed to improve efficiency, product quality, cut carbon emissions and slash energy costs.
“This is a landmark deal for Yuken Europe,” said Mr Saunders. “It will see the firm supplying parts to one of the most respected manufacturers of plastic injection moulding machines worldwide. We will be selling our servo drives for use in IntElect and SE electrical machines for the core puller, and Systec SP hybrid machines for full system drive.
“A key selling point of our servo drive is that it can save up to 70% of the energy compared to the more traditional drive units. The strength in the design of this product ultimately ensures high quality pressed plastic.
Mr Saunders said the plastic sector is big business right across Europe. “We are pleased to have started our “new build” account with Sumitomo (SHI) Demag,” he said. “This latest deal gives a strong indication of the calibre of our work.”
Mr Saunders said Yuken and Sumitomo (SHI) Demag benefit from a single sourcing arrangement for worldwide supply and support of the servo drive units. This has seen Yuken supplying servo drive units to Sumitomo (SHI) Demag for use on their Systec C machines at their production facilities at Ningbo in China.
Yuken Europe employs more than 20 staff at its Liverpool site. The firm’s Japanese parent company Yuken Kogyo is a long established company with a wealth of knowledge, expertise and many ground breaking innovations in the plastics industry.
Yuken Europe’s recent deals have seen the firm supplying to the marine and aerospace sectors with ferry operator Isle of Man Steam Packet Company and Bombardier Northern Ireland.
