Durham Designer partners with AkzoNobel Powder Coatings for unique International launch
Durham based designer Judith Garbutt, owner of Largo Creative, has seen her work for global powder coatings company AkzoNobel Powder Coatings, showcased at the internationally renowned design and furniture fair, Salone del Mobile, in Milan.
Judith was given the brief by AkzoNobel Powder Coatings, whose north east HQ is based in Felling, Gateshead, earlier this year. The company was looking for a coherent, creative and visually impactful design for its new and innovative range of Chrome Effect Powder Coatings called Interpon Cr. The range is a breakthrough in bright metal coatings, suitable for the furniture industry, lighting and domestic finishes.
Judith, who is originally from Redcar, has 25 years’ experience in design and set up Largo Creative in 2006. After receiving the detailed brief from AkzoNobel Powder Coatings, she created advertising and exhibition material, plus a brochure, for the new Interpon Cr range which creates a similar finish to chrome but without the environmental impact. Her finished designs were unveiled on the AkzoNobel Powder Coatings stand at the famous Milan show last month. Salone del Mobile is celebrating its 53rd anniversary this year, and her designs received much attention from many of the 250,000 worldwide visitors.
Judith Garbutt, owner of Largo Creative commented: “To be given such an important project for AkzoNobel Powder Coatings was extremely challenging and it was crucial that I met the brief for this important global launch. The range is a first for the industry and I was determined to create collateral which was as unique as the new Interpon Cr range itself and really conveyed the key features and benefits.”
Mark Reekie, one of AkzoNobel Powder Coating’s Global Marketing Managers commented: “We’ve worked with Judith for a number or years and she continues to deliver stand out creative designs for our company. The reaction we had to our new environmentally friendly Interpon Cr range, at the recent show in Milan was very positive. Judith’s designs really helped to communicate our new range in both a visually impacting and informative way”.
