Picture bright for Lime Pictures as turnover exceeds £65 million

Lime Pictures, the Liverpool-based television production company, has reported another successful year, with turnover at £65.6 million for the year to August 31st - up from £58.7 million the year before.

Profits have grown slightly from £8.1 million to £8.5 million at £8.5 million, while pre-tax profits were £11.4 million, up from £10.9 million.

Lime Pictures produces hit TV shows such as Hollyoaks, Geordie Shore and The Only Way Is Essex (TOWIE).

The company says its outlook is positive, with Hollyoaks continuing to win awards, TOWIE entering its 13th series for ITV, and a pipeline of new productions.

Filming has finished for The Disney Channel’s first live UK action production at Arley Hall in Cheshire.

A statement in its Companies’ House report says: “The commercial environment in which the company operates remains competitive, but the directors believe that the company’s position as one of the leading television production companies will enable it to maintain its current position in the future.”

The company, which employs about 300 staff, was originally founded by Phil Redmond as Mersey Television. It changed name to Lime Pictures when it became part of All3Media in 2005.

Permira, which owns Lime’s parent company, All3Media has announced it intends to sell All3Media to Discovery Communications and Liberty Global in a £550m deal.
