Sarah shuts up shop on social media
A PR consultant known as one of the North East’s most influential in social media has shut up shop on the social networks.
Sarah Hall, managing director of Sarah Hall Consulting, is carrying out a sponsored social media silence in order to raise money for the Sunshine Fund, for which she is a Trustee.
Sarah is abstaining from Twitter, Facebook, Linked In, Google+, Vimeo and Pinterest for a full week to secure donations for the charity, which supplies specialist equipment to children with disabled children in the North East.
The fundraising push coincides with the launch of the Sunshine Fund’s Go Bananas campaign, which runs throughout June.
Sarah said: “The campaign asks people to Go Bananas and raise cash for the Sunshine Fund in whatever way they choose so I thought I’d do something that I’d find really hard and would actually make me Go Bananas!
“Already I’m finding it tough – I’ve always been a big social networker as I use digital platforms for both work and pleasure but I never realised quite how much time I spent online until now. I hope people will get behind me and sponsor me as every donation, no matter how small, can make a big difference to the lives of local children.”
Caroll Pattison, fund manager for the Sunshine Fund, said: “We love it when people get creative and find different ways to raise money and this is one of the more quirky we’ve seen recently. We’re looking forward to seeing how Sarah fares – hopefully she won’t slip up too often (or even at all!) as she’s committed to paying a forfeit if she does!”
