Ashington's FES International land £700k North Sea contract

Oil and gas engineering specialists FES International have secured a £700k contract to provide components for a subsea contractor working on a North Sea gas field.

The Ashington-based firm have already started work on the contract to build a number of ‘Diverless Bend Stiffener Connectors’ for US outfit NOV Flexibles.

The parts will be used on a deep sea drilling operation by Subsea 7 on the Total-operated Martin Linge field, located in the North Sea on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

Ian Latimer, technical director at FES international, said: “We’re proud of the confidence NOV Flexibles has placed in us as shown by the repeat business.

“This contract is the third they have awarded to us within a matter of months. Our successful track-record has placed us firmly on their preferred supplier list which is great.”

This year FES has also supplied DBSCs to NOV Flexibles for use in the North Sea at the Mariner field, Statoil’s heavy oil development and as part of Subsea 7’s Western Isles Development (WID) project.

The Martin Linge field is one of the largest un-developed gas discoveries in the North Sea. Oil and gas production is expected to start in 2016 with a capacity of 80,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
