Judges poised to select new talent in annual enterprise challenge

Law firm, hlw Keeble Hawson LLP, is sponsoring Sheffield Hallam University’s annual Enterprise Challenge competition for business start-ups for the sixth consecutive year.

Head of Corporate Law, Roger Dyson is once again on the judging panel of the vibrant competition which awards £5,000 to the winning venture and is now its fourteenth year.

A new development in 2014 sees the University giving a special £2,000 prize for the best social enterprise to reach the finals. Current students and graduates are eligible to take part in the competition. Mr Dyson will sit alongside fellow judges who comprise previous Enterprise finalist Jessica Zeun, who is running her own IT consultancy, Toby Hyam of Creative Space Management, Alan Sumerfield of Gripple Limited, Andrea Cropley of Irwin Mitchell, Alex McWhirter of Finance Yorkshire and Lloyd Snellgrove of Sheffield Hallam University.

Said Roger, who has been a judge since 2009: “hlw Keeble Hawson places a high importance on helping start-ups and this competition is an ideal platform to support new business talent. It is tremendous to see the standard of entries improving year on year along with the quality of the presentations.”

Shelia Quairney, head of enterprise at Sheffield Hallam University, said “We are delighted that hlw Keeble Hawson continues to support the Enterprise Challenge as part of its links with the University. The firm has provided training opportunities for a number of our graduates and we hope this will continue to develop in the future.”

The winner will be announced at an awards dinner in October attended by members of the business community and dignitaries. The competition sponsors include hlw Keeble Hawson, The Electric Works, Finance Yorkshire, Gripple, Loadhog and Sheffield Hallam Students’ Union.
