New build brings new start for Mrs McKechnie
A local police worker is over the moon with her brand new home at Persimmon Homes’ Princess Gardens development as she starts a new chapter in her life. Anne McKechnie decided to downsize to a stunning two-bedroom apartment at the popular residential development in Bathgate, following the departure of her four children from the family home.
And to add icing to the cake, she received a one thousand pound cash incentive from the housebuilder for recommending the development to her son Sean and his wife Vijayata.
Anne said: “I’m delighted with my new apartment. I chose to downsize because a three bedroom terraced house was just too big for me to live in alone. Once all my children moved out there was no need for the extra rooms anymore.
“I even managed to persuade my son, Sean, and his wife Vijayata, to move here after they fell in love with the development when they visited me.
“It has allowed them to get out of a rented apartment in Edinburgh and into a three-bedroom home of their own.”
Speaking of his new home, Sean said: “We’re really happy to finally have a home of our own. We get so much more for our money here. We would never have been able to buy a house if we stayed in Edinburgh and living round the corner from my mother is a huge bonus.”
In relocating from the nearby Falside area, Anne has said goodbyes to the high running costs of her big, old draughty property and hello to a much easier and more economical lifestyle, with everything she needs, including family, on her doorstep.
“I loved my old house with its traditional features but having lived on my own for five years it had become so costly and difficult to maintain, I decided it was time for a change. I wanted something that didn’t need constant maintenance.
“I viewed a number of new build developments in the area but Princess Gardens had the best range of apartments, in particular the one I ended up buying. It is just the right size for me, and I’ve even got a spare bedroom for when any of my children come to visit.
“The fact you can literally just move-in and there’s no maintenance to worry about is a real benefit! Everything’s so fresh and clean – it just makes living here so easy. And I’ve seen a big difference in my fuel bills.”
Anne said that Persimmon Homes has brought the family closer than they have been since the last of her children moved out in 2009.
“Not only am I living down the road to one of my sons, Persimmon Homes also gave me one thousand pounds for recommending them to the development. I used the money to visit my son, Liam, and his family in New York for Christmas. It was lovely getting to spend time with my grandson at such a special time of year. New York is such a beautiful city at Christmas.” Lorraine Clelland, Sales and Marketing Director of Persimmon Homes East Scotland, said; “We are seeing a rising trend in the numbers of house hunters looking to downsize, whether it be to improve their quality of life or to save money, we can advise house hunters of the options available.
“It has been so exciting watching Mrs McKechnie and her son’s family put down roots here. The development has proven to be popular with so many families and a wonderful community spirit is being built within Wester Inch Village.” Princess Gardens in a stunning development with just three properties remaining including two one bedroom flats and one four bedroom detached property.
Adjacent to Princess Gardens is the recently released Queensgait development within Wester inch Village featuring 47 number of traditional terraced, semi-detached and detached three, four and five- bedroom homes from just £210,950*. For a 4 bed detached
