Sheffield's DBL Logistics becomes part of UK hub after turnover grows to £3 million

DBL Logistics has become the first warehousing and distribution company to become a member of the Logistics Hub UK partnership.

DBL Logistics, a founding member of the United Pallet Network (UPN), has seen turnover grow to £3 million in the last year and aims to double this by 2018 following the recent expansion into new premises on Tinsley Park Road.

The Sheffield-based business has agreed to support the hub which aims to establish the Sheffield City Region as the North of England’s leading multimodal logistics location.

Logistics Hub UK is a partnership of private-sector companies and local authority organisations committed to the promotion, growth and development of the logistics sector in the Sheffield City Region.

The hub aims to bring together companies from the logistics sector to create a single voice to market the region to inward investors and commercial partners.

It believes this will enhance the profile of the city region, provide a marketing platform for members’ products and services, create a basis for logistics cluster development and assist in influencing national policy and planning agendas.

David Clarkson, managing director of DBL Logistics, said: “As a leading warehousing and distribution business in the Sheffield City Region, we are pleased to support the hub’s aims in showcasing the expertise available.

“Logistics is a fast-growing sector and one which this region is ideally placed to capitalise on, but we need to work together to be able to maximise our strengths and sell ourselves to the world.”

David has also been selected to become the Sheffield Chamber’s Transport Forum representative on the new Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) Logistics Group.

The Sheffield City Region logistics sector has an economic output of £930 million and employs 31,000 people.
