A room with a view – at Anfield stadium?
Liverpool FC’s Anfield stadium could be the site for some the city’s most sought-after addresses – for fans of the Reds at least, if outline plans for executive apartments progress.
The club is reported to be seeking outline planning permission to incorporate eight exclusive apartments within the proposed extension to the Anfield Road stand.
Last week, Liverpool submitted to the council plans to increase the stadium’s capacity to just under 59,000.
The club applied for detailed planning consent to expand the Main Stand, taking its capacity up by 8,500 to 21,000 and outline consent for Anfield Road, increasing its seating capacity by 4,800.
The applications reveal how eight apartments could be built within the fifth floor of the rebuilt stand – above three tiers of seating. The space could also be used for the club’s commercial activities.
Under these plans, Anfield’s total capacity would rise from 45,500 to 58,800.
