Cramlington children bring colour to their community

School children in Cramlington are hoping they have sown the seeds of success as they compete to create the best planted container as part of Cramlington in Bloom 2014.

Pupils from Beaconhill, Eastlea and Shanklea primary schools put their green fingers to the test as they teamed up with Manor Walks, Azure Garden Centre and Cramlington Town Council for the annual horticultural challenge.

Following the launch of the competition, which saw youngsters from each school visit Azure Garden Centre to gain inspiration to help their entries flourish, each school has now planted their floral designs at Manor Walks Shopping & Leisure as part of the annual Cramlington in Bloom display.

Bruno Coppola, Manor Walks Shopping & Leisure’s general manager, said: “Pupils from all of the schools involved in this year’s Cramlington in Bloom competition have been extremely enthusiastic and it was a real pleasure to have them join the team at Manor Walks as they planted their designs.

“We are committed to helping to ensure that Cramlington is a welcoming and vibrant place to visit and we are proud to be able to work alongside our local community on projects such as Cramlington in Bloom. This year’s entry is not only helping to create an environment which residents can be proud of now, but one that is also teaching our future generations to take pride in where they live.”
