Sheffield law firm strikes a chord for dementia help charity

Rotherham - based Lost Chord and lawyers from the private client department at hlw Keeble Hawson are launching a new initiative to encourage local people to leave a legacy to the dementia charity.

Throughout Write a Will week from 16 – 20 June, the law firm is offering a reduction in the cost of writing a simple will to anyone leaving a legacy, monetary gift or item from their estate to Lost Chord.

The initiative comes as Sheffield MP David Blunkett leads a parliamentary inquiry looking into how to boost donations to charities, including the idea of television airtime to promote good causes and the introduction of living legacies.

Lost Chord takes an innovative approach to improving the quality of life for dementia sufferers by using musical stimuli to increase general awareness and self-esteem.

Michele Todd, partner at hlw Keeble Hawson, said: “As the government is encouraging the introduction of living legacies we hope that by launching this project more South Yorkshire residents will be encouraged to leave a donation to Lost Chord. People don’t have to leave a monetary legacy as gifts such as musical instruments are also encouraged – and any donation will enable the charity to provide vital support to local people for years to come.”
