Award for barn conversion in Coventry

The conversion of two derelict barns in Coventry into state-of-the-art, modern offices – which are providing income to a local charity – has been highly commended at a national awards event.

The Heart of England Community Foundation were gifted Hazel Tree Barns in Kings Hill Lane in 2009 to convert into business units to provide a rental income for the grant-giving organisation.

Coventry firm Deeley Construction carried out the work to turn them into modern, sustainable offices, both of which are now let to businesses –Autobahn and Imagination.

That success and the quality of the conversion saw the work highly commended in the Refurbishment of the Year category at the National Federation of Builders Awards.

Martin Gallagher, managing director of Deeley Construction, said: “This is a very prestigious event in the construction calendar so we were delighted to see the work at Hazel Tree Barns highly-commended.

“But this is not just an award for Deeley – it is testament to the Heart of England Community Foundation, Autobahn and Imagination as well as all of the other companies and organisations who have played a part in bringing life to these two barns.”
