Thornaby funeral directors buy premises ready for growth
An independent firm of funeral directors, based in Thornaby, have bought their own premises - in a move designed to cater for future growth.
Lanehouse Road-based Irene Jessop Funeral has received financial means from Barclays to make the purchase.
Irene Jessop, owner of the business said: “We’ve leased the premises for some time now so when the opportunity to buy them arose we discussed the proposal with Trevor and he’s been able to support us with a commercial mortgage.
“Purchasing our own premises provides security for the future and gives us some certainty for remaining in the Thornaby locality.”
Irene Jessop Funeral was established in 2010 and employs six staff across its funeral services, including three chapels of rest.
Trevor Jenkins, business banking manager at Barclays put together the funding package for the deal and said: “It’s great to see a business investing for the future, contributing to the local economy and taking advantage of the low interest rates.
“Irene has over 25 years-experience in the industry and it’s good to see a family business growing and demonstrates Barclays continued support for businesses across the North East.”
