Two Yorkshire Dales veterinary practices merge into 24/7 venture
Two Yorkshire Dales veterinary practices have merged to create a 24/7 service with help from Latimer Hinks Solicitors, a County Durham law firm.
‘Yoredale’ veterinary practice has now been created as a result of the coming together of Hollin Rigg Vets, which covers Leyburn, and Linscott vets, which serves clients in Ripon, Masham, Leyburn and Bedale.
Linscott Vets’ four existing branches will remain open as normal with the addition of Hollin Rigg surgery on Middleham Road in Leyburn, which will predominately act as the main farm and equine department for clients in and around the Leyburn area.
Nick Poole, partner in the firm’s Commercial Department, advised the two practice principals, Jonathan Linscott and John Watkinson, on the merger which will mean that the Leyburn based team will be able to cater for the needs of livestock, pets and horses across North Yorkshire.
Nick Poole said: “I am very pleased to have worked with these two practices to help them realise their ambitions. Yordale Vets will serve a larger area and will pool the two practice’s expertise and resources to provide a first rate service to a whole host of clients in the Yorkshire Dales.
“The merger signifies a wider trend in the veterinary world to join forces to create larger operations to provide both economies of scale and also a more responsive service to clients.
“The combined resources mean that the new practice will be able to serve a greater number of clients in the Dales, and to pool resources and expertise for the benefit of both clients and patients.”
Jonathan Linscott, principal at Yoredale Vets, said: “This is an exciting and very positive move for both practices and will us to further develop our core services and areas of expertise, enabling us to offer an enhanced service to clients from all sectors.
“The advice given by Latimer Hinks was excellent and they made the merger run smoothly and on time. Nick was also very personable and we were delighted with how everything was conducted.”
Arthur Wappat, a corporate adviser with the Veterinary Business Agency, who has long-standing experience in the veterinary sector and made the initial introduction between Latimer Hinks and the partners at Yoredale, said: “The deal came together very smoothly which was very encouraging for future relationships.
“Mergers in the veterinary world are becoming increasingly more complex; however this one was completed without any major issues and the partners’ willingness to accommodate the changes needed enabled the deal to conclude in the short timeframe required.”
