NG Bailey clinch £4.5 million Reading development deal

Yorkshire-based NG Bailey’s Engineering division has secured a £4.5 million mechanical and electrical (M&E) installation contract as part of the £25 million Chatham Place development in Reading.

Working alongside main contractor, Galliford Try, NG Bailey will deliver 178,200 sq. ft. of residential and retail floor space across the nine and 19 storey constructions. This is phase two of the contract with completion due in spring 2015.

Chatham Place is a £100 million mixed-use scheme from Muse Developments. The project, in partnership with Reading Borough Council, is at the western end of Reading town centre.

It will link the high street to the west of the town centre and the regeneration is a major part of the Reading City 2020 vision.

Mike Darlington, managing director of the Engineering division, commented: “This is a great win for us and demonstrates the strength of our offering. We have a long standing working relationship with Galliford Try and we are delighted to be delivering services that will further strengthen that relationship.

“Our success comes from adopting a collaborative approach during the tender period and helping engineer an innovative solution for the client.”
