New Management Academy boosts business leaders’ skills

Fully-funded training and development for senior staff is being offered to businesses at a new Management Academy launched in Gateshead this week.

Intraining, one of the UK’s leading recruitment and training providers, created the Academy after its business advisers spotted a gap in professional development opportunities for businesses which had only one or two management-level staff requiring it.

In many cases the companies could not find the money or the time to develop the management skills needed to improve performance and grow their business.

Now Intraining has stepped in to fill the gap, launching the Academy with three Leadership and Management sessions, being held at Gear House in Saltmeadows Road, Gateshead.

The first session, on June 17, focused on managing change and inspiring and motivating staff.

Two further sessions on June 24 and July 1 will cover management topics such as group dynamics and delivering measurable results.

Businesses from across all sectors have signed up for the cost-free sessions. They range from call centres and care homes to engineering companies and retailers.

Intraining Business Adviser Manager Richard Pitt, who is running the Academy, plans to expand the provision across the North East.

He said: “Feedback from the first session has been very positive.

“Companies are keen to develop their management skills and capabilities but sometimes have difficulty finding funding to get training for just one or two people.

“The Management Academy offers that training – and at no cost to the company – so it’s a win-win situation.”

The training is funded through the Government’s Skills Support for the Workforce initiative.

Any company interested in future Management Academy sessions can contact Intraining’s Management Academy administrator, Lisa Ashley, on 0191 383 7386.
