Palm House volunteer scheme set to present first public excursion

The newly established volunteer scheme at Sefton Park Palm House is set to treat members of the public to an exclusive outing.

Being the first of its kind, the volunteer organised daytrip will offer plant lovers and gardening enthusiasts alike, a day filled with horticultural delights at Ness Botanic Gardens, on Thursday, June 26.

Volunteer and Board Member, Fran Parkinson said: “As a result of the volunteer scheme at the Palm House, we have seen many wonderful outcomes to ensure that the Palm House is always looking its best.

“Therefore, as a thank you for the public’s continuous support and generosity, we thought it would be a great idea to invite them on a fun-filled day trip.”

To begin the day, guests will meet at the Palm House at 10am for coffee and conversation, before travelling to the popular Cheshire attraction via a return coach. After receiving a private talk by the director of Ness Gardens, Kevin Reid, the group will then explore the magnificent collections of botanic beauties.

Fran added: “As well as viewing the award-winning show gardens, the day will enable those with similar interests to get to know one and other. Depending on the weather, we will also encourage visitors to join us for a group picnic.

“We hope that the excursion will be greatly enjoyed by everyone that attends, and are confident that it will be the first of many.”

The Ness Botanic Gardens daytrip will take place from 10am on Thursday, June 26 and is priced at £25 per person. Included in the price are a morning coffee meeting, return coach and entry into the attraction.
