National kitchen retailer expands into Darlington premises

A national kitchen retailer is expanding into new premises at a thriving North East industrial estate.

Magnet is set to move into a 12,000 sq ft building on Darlington’s Yarm Road Interchange Business Park in September this year.

Chartered surveyors Sanderson Weatherall has brokered a deal for the Darlington-headquartered company to pre-let Unit 6 on the site.

Magnet will join Screwfix and Yesss Electrical as part of phase one of the development, leaving just two other buildings available at the thriving trade park.

The firm’s Head of Group Property and Store Development Andy Cartlidge said: “I’m delighted to be relocating the Darlington store into this new purpose built unit.

“It will operate as a combined kitchen showroom and trade counter warehouse in a prominent and accessible location, close to neighbouring retail and trade parks.”

Yarm Road Interchange Business Park is a 20-acre mixed-use development, which is adjacent to Darlington Business Park and is within two miles of the town centre.

Sanderson Weatherall also brokered the deals for Screwfix and Yesss Electrical to move there last year.

Jonathan Simpson, partner at Sanderson Weatherall, said: “Yarm Road Interchange Business Park is proving to be a popular development with such high-profile businesses occupying its space and together with the addition of Magnet from September, the industrial estate will only continue to grow.

“It is a prime location for businesses that offers close links to the regional motorway network from the A67 and A66, as well as having a Travelodge and popular restaurant nearby.

“We have received a lot of interest in the two remaining units at the site, and phase one of the development has proved to be a great success, so far.”
