Lush expands further in Leeds city centre

Lush, the handmade cosmetics company, is relocating its Leeds store to larger premises in the heart of the city’s retail core.

The new store will be located on a prominent corner position on the junction of Commercial Street and Lands Lane, facing one of the main entrances to Trinity Leeds shopping centre.

The retail team from the Leeds office of GVA acted for Lush on the deal.

Located close to its existing Leeds shop, the new larger format store at 12-13 Commercial Street will feature a four-room Lush Spa in the building’s basement, with retail space to the ground floor and staff facilities and storage on the first floor.

Richard Padley, retail director at GVA, said: “This expansion by Lush makes sound business sense given the opportunity available to relocate into what is undoubtedly one of the most prominent retail units in the city with fantastic presence from all angles, including Lands Lane, Briggate, Commercial Street and Trinity.

“The move is also further evidence of the upturn in confidence we are seeing in the market place, especially in cities such as Leeds which continues to go from strength to strength.”

Nick Rowland, estates manager of Lush, said: “We’re delighted to enhance our presence within Leeds city centre.

“Our existing shop and spa on Commercial Street has always performed well and this opportunity with its larger sales space and bigger spa in what we feel is the best location in Leeds city centre will enable an even better experience for existing and new customers alike.”

Lush produces and sells a variety of fresh handmade cosmetics, including soaps, shower gels, shampoos and hair conditioners, bath bombs, make-up, perfume and skin-care.

Mark and Mo Constantine, co- founders of Lush, opened the company’s first store in Poole, Dorset, in 1995. Lush now trades from 104 stores around the UK and Ireland. CBRE advised the landlord, M&G Real Estate.
