£900k LEP funding for Ripon industrial site expansion

The Government’s ‘Growing Places’ scheme has granted £900k of funding to facilitate development of a new industrial and distribution park off Ripon’s Melmerby Industrial Estate.

The project will deliver 183,000sq ft of ‘desperately needed’ new space to meet current demand levels.

Site owner Potter Logistics has been granted the funding for the development by the York, North Yorkshire and East Ridings Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).

Funding will be used to open up the development by constructing the site access roads, demolishing existing buildings, and further upgrading existing power/utility supplies. The local community can also expect to see new high quality sustainable jobs being created in the area.

Barry Dodd, CBE Chairman at York, North Yorkshire and East Ridings Local Enterprise Partnership said: “This development is part of our LEP’s on-going ambition to help businesses create jobs and deliver economic growth.

“The business park’s expansion will allow businesses to grow into or start up within new industrial space and provide up to 300 new jobs. Ultimately, it will help to ensure that North Yorkshire has the capacity to support the growing demands of its businesses.”

Architects WPL Consulting has designed and secured consent for the scheme with units ranging from 6,000 sq ft to 130,000 sq ft.

The new units will offer a high standard space to suit a range of manufacturing and distribution uses, as well as providing dedicated car parking and yard spaces.

Leeds based commercial property agent Fox Lloyd Jones, who was instrumental in helping Potter Logistics gain planning permission, and are retained property advisors to the company are now marketing the site jointly with Carter Jonas.

Nick Salkeld of Fox Lloyd Jones stated: “The A1M 50 development will provide end users with a high quality industrial site providing a mix of low and high eaves buildings.

“The design and build basis allows potential occupiers to tailor the units to their specific requirements, but we also felt it was important to open up the scheme and create the development platform to further underline our deliverability and flexibility message.

“The site also offers unique benefits such as substantial available power for manufacturing areas as well as secure hard standing storage areas and excellent transport links to the whole of the region and beyond.”
