New general manager appointed at Solihull hotel

A general manager with over 20 years’ experience in the hospitality industry has joined a luxury Solihull hotel.

Steven Quick, who has been appointed at Hogarths Hotel & Restaurant in Four Ashes Road, Dorridge, is no stranger to the Midlands.

He has moved to the four-star hotel after working for Macdonald Hotels, the UK’s largest privately owned hotel group, for ten years where he held a number of senior managerial positions including general manager at the Macdonald Ansty Hotel in Coventry and cluster general manager for the group’s Stratford-upon-Avon hotels.

Steven was head of business development and managing director of Macdonald Hotels’ North West hotels before taking over at the helm at Hogarths Hotel.

The 36-year-old was appointed as the venue was awarded a four-star rating from the AA with its outstanding service and modern décor receiving particular praise from the inspectors.

“Receiving the four stars from the AA is the best possible endorsement of the facilities and staff that we have at Hogarths and I am on a mission to continually improve our products and services,” he said.

“That was emphasised when our brasserie manager and some of his colleagues were recently part of a group who spent three days in the South of France visiting over 20 vineyards and winemakers to track down the best the wine capital of the world has to offer which are now on sale here.

“We are now looking to achieve AA rosettes for our Bar8 Brasserie after recruiting a head chef from Nuthurst Grange Country House Hotel & Restaurant in Solihull and a pastry chef from the AA five red-star Pennyhill Park Hotel and they have already updated the menu and introduced afternoon teas which are proving popular.

“I am a big believer in providing the best possible customer experience and that is my main focus in everything we do at Hogarths whether guests are staying during a leisure break, visiting for business or enjoying a meal in our restaurant. “This is a fantastic independent hotel with a great staff and we are focused on putting the hotel on the map.”

Helena Hogarth, co-owner of Hogarths Hotel, said Steven’s passion for driving the hotel forward shines through.
