Martin-Brooks Warriors brave muck for brass

Five fitness enthusiasts from Sheffield roofing specialists, Martin-Brooks, battled through miles of mud to add £850 to the firm’s charity coffers.

The Martin-Brooks team tackled the Total Warrior event in Leeds to raise funds for six of the organisations supported by the firm’s 25th anniversary charity fund.

Martin-Brooks’ director, Nick Brooks, his wife, Jess, estimator, Andrew Wheadon, health and safety manager, Nicola Jackson and office administrator, Oliver Chapman, completed the 12.5km course around Bramham Park in two hours 20 minutes. The expert roofers faced 30 muddy obstacles along the route, which included wading through water and avoiding electrocution.

Nick said: “Although we all train regularly, this is the first time we have taken on a team event of this nature. The atmosphere in Bramham Park was fantastic and the sense of camaraderie among Total Warrior competitors really helped us through. The support we received for this event has been amazing and I would like to thank everyone who has helped us take such a significant step towards our fundraising target.”

To mark its 25th anniversary, Martin-Brooks pledged to raise £25,000 for local charities. So far, £15,000 has been donated to organisations including Amy’s Retreat, Catcliffe MS Therapy Centre, Cavendish Cancer Care, Sheffield Talking News, St Vincent’s Furniture Scheme, The Rowan School, Norfolk Park Special School, Help for Heroes and Sheffield Institute Foundation’s motor neurone research centre.
