New Director of Audit at Shaw Gibbs brings strong commercial background
Ed Porter, an experienced accountant in both practice and industry, has been appointed Director of Audit for Oxford-based firm Shaw Gibbs. Based within the firm’s Business Services Division, Ed will continue to grow the firm’s capabilities in providing first class auditing services, while strengthening its competitive edge in both customer service and technical ability.
Ed Porter comments on his appointment: “There is a strong sense of commerce about Shaw Gibbs that is refreshing for a firm of its size, and a real impression that everyone works together to achieve the best outcome for the client. The Business Services Division in particular combines the best of technical ability with client-focused auditing skills.

Ed Porter brings to his new client base a breadth of experience and keen business awareness, gained from a career spanning accountancy practice and commercial enterprises. The 38-year old has worked in London and the Home Counties for 14 years and during this time has also held directorships in numerous private and public companies.
Among his achievements Ed was part of the Board which listed Cantina Augusto plc on PLUS Markets (now the Securities and Derivatives Exchange – ISDX) which was voted PLUS New Issue of the Year, and as Head of Audit was instrumental in growing the audit fee income of his previous practice threefold during a recession. Ed is married with one daughter.
