Anesco and First Utility partner to tackle fuel poverty

National energy efficiency solutions company Anesco and First Utility, the UK’s fastest growing energy company, have formed a new partnership to manage property upgrades and help reduce bills for thousands of the country’s most vulnerable households.

The three year agreement will see Anesco delivering home improvements to residential properties most at risk or already experiencing fuel poverty. This will include boiler replacements and new or better insulation that will help to improve the housing stock while lowering energy usage and bills.

“We are delighted to be working in collaboration with First Utility to help cut bills by delivering energy efficiency in a cost effective way to tackle the issue of poor housing stock,” said Adrian Pike, CEO of Anesco.

He continued: “A key objective for the UK is not to build more generation, but for everybody to use less energy. With First Utility you get the UK’s cheapest energy, while Anesco ensures homes ultimately use less energy, so removing demand from the distribution network. Together our organisations are helping to drive efficiencies into the market, to make it sustainable for the long term and to help tackle the growing issue of fuel poverty.”

Ed Kamm, chief customer officer at First Utility, commented: “We want to lower energy bills through cheaper tariffs, but also by helping consumers eliminate energy waste. A key way to achieve this is to ensure UK homes are properly insulated and efficiently heated.

“Partnering with Anesco means we can cost effectively deliver energy efficiency improvements and meet our ECO obligation, but also help tackle the issue of fuel poverty across the country. This is a great example of two innovative and fast growing companies working together to deliver real benefits.”

Anesco was recently named the UK’s fastest growing private company and is recognised as the second fastest growing cleantech in Europe and as one of the top 100 cleantechs in the world. Through its work with businesses, local authorities and homeowners, Anesco has helped to take over 65,000 people out of fuel poverty. The renewable technologies it has deployed are now generating enough power for more than 70,000 homes, saving over 101,000 tonnes of carbon per year.
