Silver award raises the bar for Chorley waste container firm
Chorley-based provider of commercial waste container services, Fairport Containers, has achieved a national award for its achievements in occupational health and safety.
The firm, headquartered on Market Street, Adlington, has been presented with a silver RoSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) award, just one year after it attained the bronze accolade.
The RoSPA Awards recognise commitment to continuous improvement in accident and ill health prevention at work. Through the scheme, which is open to businesses and organisations of all types and sizes from across the UK and overseas, judges consider entrants’ overarching occupational health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.
Managing director of Fairport Containers, Steve Collinson commented: “We are so pleased to receive this award. It’s a fantastic achievement, particularly as we have made such rapid improvement after winning the bronze award last year. It clearly demonstrates our ongoing commitment to best practice in workplace safety.
“The Fairport Containers team is continuously looking for ways to improve, so we’ll be striving for the gold award next!”
David Rawlins, RoSPA’s awards manager, added: “The RoSPA Awards encourage the raising of occupational health and safety standards across the board. Organisations that gain recognition for their health and safety management systems, such as Fairport Containers, contribute to a collective raising of the bar for other organisations to aspire to, and we offer them our congratulations.”
Fairport Containers, headquartered in Lancashire, is the UK’s longest-established provider of waste container services. Services include refurbishment, remodelling, sale and hire of steel waste containers and recycling banks to waste management firms, local authorities, charities and businesses across the country.
