Accountants choose Settle-based firm to continue 20 year legacy
Independent chartered accountancy firm, Kneill & Co, has selected Settle and Accrington-based Haworths Chartered Accountants to continue to serve its clients, following the retirement of owner Mike Kneill.
Kneill & Co has been providing tax and accountancy advice to local businesses in the Settle, Ingleton and Carnforth areas, on the borders of North Yorkshire with Lancashire, for more than 20 years, with an emphasis on excellent standards of client service and a personal approach.
Kneill’s decision to sell the business to Haworths followed a thorough selection process to identify a company with a similar culture and service commitment.
Explains Mike Kneill: “I wanted to ensure that I sold the company to a chartered accountancy practice that would maintain the relationships I have built up over the years. My clients have always trusted me to act in their best interests so I wanted to ensure that the company that took over had the same ethos and values as myself.”
Experienced Haworths chartered accountant and current president of the North West Society of Chartered Accountants, Mark Schofield, will take responsibility for the transfer and management of clients moving across from Kneill & Co. Haworths’.
David Whittaker, who is responsible for day-to-day management of the company’s Settle and Bentham offices, will also be personally involved in advising the former Kneill & Co clients.
Said Mr Schofield: “Kneill & Co had an excellent reputation and Mike Kneill had built an impressive client base from his offices in Ingleton.
“Because Mike’s offices were based in the same building as his home, clients will be transferred to either the Settle or Bentham offices of Haworths Chartered Accountants, but we will ensure that the level of client care and breadth of services are of the same high standards.
“The deal is part of an ongoing expansion strategy at Haworths but our philosophy remains the same: to always strive to provide excellent advice linked with a director led personal touch to ensure tailored and professional tax and accountancy advice for big corporate clients and smaller owner-managed businesses alike.”
