Disused Leeds hair salon to be transformed into an Sicilian wine café
Sicilian family-run restaurant firm the Veeno Wine Company, has invested in new Leeds premises, turning a disused hair salon into an authentic Italian wine café creating 8 jobs.
A 15 strong team from Leeds-based interior fit out specialist Fraser Projects is tackling the three week refurbishment contract, ahead of the opening night on Friday July 25.
With experience in the retail and leisure sectors, Fraser Projects is providing electrical services, plastering, flooring, decorating, installation of a bar, mezzanine and kitchen area, plus the supply of bespoke furniture.
Once complete, the café will serve a range of family-produced wines, plus Italian aperitifs, beers, non-alcoholic refreshments and luxury hot drinks.
Customers will also be able to enjoy a selection of antipasti, paninis and focaccias, with ingredients carefully sourced from Italian suppliers.
Joint founder Nino Caruso said “We have done our research and believe we’ve found a fantastic opportunity to bring an authentic Italian leisure experience to the people of Leeds.
“Open throughout the day and into the evening, we will offer a range of high quality food and drink that will satisfy the taste buds of even the finest connoisseurs.
“And because we are responsible for the production of our own wines – from grape to glass – we have an abundance of knowledge for those who want to learn more.
“By hand-selecting the produce we serve in our wine cafés, we can ‘transport’ our customers to Italy and give them a real feel for the food and drink we enjoy back home. This business model has proven popular so far, and we plan to continue the adventure in other UK cities moving forward.
“We look forward to Fraser Projects being a part of that journey too. Before the fit out commenced, we were keen to work with a local design specialist who could deliver a snag-free job.”
Having successfully set up an Italian wine café in Manchester last November, this second project in Leeds is part of Veeno’s ongoing expansion plan.
Veeno will open its doors for the first time at 6pm, Friday July 25.
