TK Maxx to create 40 new jobs at Bishop Auckland
High street retailer TK Maxx says it will create 40 new jobs in the region when it opens a new store in County Durham.
The 15,000 sq ft store is set to open at Bishop Auckland Retail Park on August 21.
TK Maxx, a subsidiary of US group TJX Companies, joins a growing list of high street retailers at the recently-developed Bishop site, following M&S Simply Food, Costa, Poundland, Brantano, Pets at Home, Boots, Next, Home Bargains, Card Factory, Tesco and Sainsbury’s.
The firm’s Communications Manager Lucy McGonigle said: “We are very excited to be opening up a new store and bringing Bishop Auckland shoppers savings of up to 60% off the RRP on great brands and labels for all the family under one roof.”
TK Maxx is a no-frills department store offers men’s, women’s and children’s apparel and shoes, as well as other areas such as toys, bath and beauty, accessories and home products.
It has more than 270 stores in the UK and Ireland, with 12 in the North-East.
The retailer says every shop stocks an average 50,000 items with daily deliveries bringing up to 10,000 new items to store every week.
