North East Autism Society benefits from StoryPhones donation
Opsol UK, manufacturer of StoryPhones, an educational audio system, is delighted to have donated a six way system, worth over £700 to the North East Autism Society.
StoryPhones is a multi-award winning, wire free, digital audio system based on MP3 technology. StoryPhones is used by nurseries and primary schools as a versatile learning tool to make listening easy and help develop children’s language, communication, listening and literacy skills. Earlier this year it was one of five products nominated for Early Years ICT Product for 2014.
The work of the North East Autism Society was brought to the attention of Opsol UK Managing Director, Malcolm Humble, through Durham cricketer Gordon Muchall, who is supporting the charity as part of his joint benefit year, G Force 14, with teammate Gareth Breese.
Malcolm Humble said, “I’m a huge cricket fan and when I saw that Gordon [Muchall] was supporting the North East Autism Society as part of his benefit year I felt that our StoryPhones system could be a great tool to support some of the work that the charity does. I hope that the children really enjoy using StoryPhones and that it adds some real value to their learning.”
The North East Autism Society is a registered charity with over 30 years experience of providing autism specific services. Their services include education for children aged 3-19, post 19 education and social/vocational training along with supported and open employment opportunities for adults. The charity provides year round residential placements and an ever-increasing range of family support services across the region.
“We’re extremely grateful to StoryPhones for their generous donation of the educational audio system. The system will be used by our early years provision at our North East Centre for Autism in Newton Aycliffe, Co. Durham and will help develop our students communication skills” said Lisa Taylor, Senior Marketing Officer for NEAS.
The next GForce14 Benefit Event, which is supporting the North East Autism Society and Macmillan Cancer Support, is a golf day at Ramside Hall on Friday 17 October. Four balls are priced at £350. For more information visit www.gforce14.co.uk
