Wakefield tannery acquires million pound leather processing firm

Wakefield-based tannery Colomer Munmany Europe Company Ltd has taken over Zivana Skins (UK) Ltd, thanks to the help of a new commercial solicitor joining the firm.

Colomer Munmany is part of Henan Prosper, one of the world’s leading tanneries, which supplies companies such as UGG and Burberry, as well as a number of other leading brands and Italian designer firms.

The deal to purchase the £2.2 million turnover Zivana Skins, a processor of lambskins for the leather industry, will expand Colomer Munmany’s capabilities to handle raw materials in the UK market.

Beaumont Legal used their wide range of legal expertise including handling the contract negotiations, all due diligence and arranging of a new three-year lease for Zivana’s existing premises in Thirsk, which was completed simultaneously with the acquisition of the company.

Gil Font, managing director of Colomer Munmany, said: “Beaumont Legal aided the completion of the deal quickly and professionally, whilst constantly keeping us in the loop, which is invaluable during a complex acquisition process.”

Heading up the acquisition deal for Beaumont Legal was the latest addition to their expanding commercial law team, Cordelia King.

Roy Cusworth, senior partner at Beaumont Legal, said: “2014 has been an extremely strong year for us so far. We were very pleased to complete this key business acquisition for Colomer Munmany and Cordelia’s timely appointment meant that she was able to guide the deal to a fast and successful conclusion.

“We’re delighted to welcome Cordelia back to Beaumont Legal and her considerable experience in commercial law, including mergers and acquisitions and commercial property deals, is a strong addition to our commercial team.

“This is strategically very important for us at a time when business deals are on the rise.”
