Jobs created as Gateshead stag and hen providers eye up £5 million turnover

Gateshead-based stag and hen party providers Last Night of Freedom say a relaunch, including a new online presence, has put the business on track

The firm, who specialist trips to a number of European destinations, say a resurgence in the popularity of stag and hen parties in Newcastle has helped grow sales on their doorstep.

A further five jobs have been created as a result of the growth, including three sales staff and a PR and marketing manager.

Managing director Matthew Mavir told Bdaily: “The relaunch was one thing, but our new website has really launched what was always going to be a great year into a fantastic one.

“The conversion rates are up across the board, and we’ve made such progress that we’re very nearly at absolute records - even beating pre-recession performance.

“We’re aiming to grow turnover to £5 million by the end of next year, which is a very achievable goal.”

The Saltmeadows Road-based outfit, which employs thirty staff, was set up in 1999 to supply stag and hen packages, including international trips as well as costumes, props and accessories from its warehouse.

The firm have already nearly filled their new 15,000 sq ft office space, having moved from a 4,000 sq ft office where they started out.

Matthew added: “We’re putting a lot more detail into what we do. Newcastle is one of those areas we’ve started to see big growth in.

“It’s really encouraging because its on our doorstep.”
